When I first started this book, I wondered what I had gotten into. It felt choppy and disjointed and I couldn't like the character or situation. About 50 pages in, it all changed and I couldn't put it down. I wouldn't say that I was a fan of Ove by the end, but I understood him a lot better.

I loved Parveneh as a character. What isn't to love about a fierce, pregnant woman?

I also liked the fact that this was ultimately a romance, but not the usual romance formula for a book. It was refreshing and new and heart-warming. I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this book. In many ways Ove reminded me of a certain elderly gentleman with a short fuse and lack of patience so it was easy for me to relate to Ove. Being an elderly person myself I could see some "Ove" in me too. The opening chapter about Ove buying a tablet was so very much me and some other senior citizens I know. I looked allover it for a keyboard. I still remember when my daughter handed me a cell phone and explained how to use it. We were shopping and she loaned it to me to use in case we got separated, which we did. I was frantically sayin hello into it when she came up behind me laughing and answering my hello. Technology is for the brave.

I liked the cat, who never got a proper name but had a distinct personality. It was feisty and devoted to Ove. Finding the cat with its head in Ove's hand was very touching.

Parveneh was a very likeable person. She had spunk and she treated Ove like a "father". She saw the good in him and understood him enough to get him out of his shell.

I may have posted this twice. Senior trying to use new fangled technology.
