SACD's Sherlock Holmes- "The Adventure of the Naval Treaty"
A recommended reading for those of us who will not be satisfied with the required reading. Angie read if because the title promised international espionage. Do we see a patter in how Angie picks stories?
This has been one of my favorite stories this far. It had a bit of espionage, a bit of romance, a bit of hummor, a bit of drama, and a lot of suspense. I also think that SACD gave enough information for a good detective to have figured it out before Holmes revealed the culprit. (Not that I sat down and tried to figure it out; I was in the laundrymat when I read it)
I also really liked this story. I suspected the true culprit, but must admit that I wasn't sure how the culprit got the treaty in the first place.
Meanwhile, what do you think of SACDs female characters? I liked the female character in "Scandal in Bohemia" but all the stories since then have seemed to buy into the stereotypes of loyal women who nurse their sick men, assist strangers who are in danger, etc., etc., but don't really seem to have any personality otherwise.
