SACD "The Adventure of the Final Problem"

Angie strongly suggests reading this story - but recommends it be the last one you read.

This story was sad from the first paragraph to the last.

It reminds me a little of the prophecy in Harry Potter - something along the lines of "neither can live while the other survives." I wonder if J K drew some inspiration from the Holmes/Moriarty relationship.

More later - time for supper!

There was much more foreshadowing in this story than any of the others. From the beginning, the reader is clear about what is to happen.

However, having the complete collection of Sherlock Holmes stories with the next section titled "The Return of Sherlock Holmes", I was not too concerned. Of course, that isn't to say that I did not immediately turn to the first story under "The Return" (the story title is The Adventure of the Empty House) to ascertain whether Sherlock Holmes did indeed return (he does- though several years later apparently). It makes me wonder, though, does Moriarty return as well?

I like your connection between the Harry Potter prophecy and the Holmes/Moriarty relationship. I didn't occur to me as I was reading, but it is quite similar, isn't it?
