Murder Uncorked by Michele Scott

A light, easy read for a break.

Well, we wanted a nice easy read and this was that at least. I finished quickly and enjoyed it. The plot was complex enough to keep me guessing the murderer until the end. (I did guess correctly, but not until just before the big reveal). My biggest complaint was that it read too much like a cheap romance, but considering it is a cheap murder mystery, I guess it could be worse.

The author seemed to take her time until the final chapters and than started speeding up her story toward the end as though she was tired of the story and hurried up to get to the end. I was reading at a leisurely pace and then all of a sudden I was running behind trying to keep up with the explanations of the whats and whys of the story. I got a bit befuddled. I really didn't feel the murderer had much of an excuse to kill those people.

I am wondering if Melissa is going to try those recipes or look for those wines.

Murder mysteries have never been my favorite genre so a story has to be a good one and a believable one as far as motive goes for me to get into it. Maybe as this author writes more books she will improve her style.

I also disliked the pacing. I think they may improve, but I probably won't read any more by that author to find out.

I took note of a few recipes and wines to try! Any excuse, right?
