And what about favorite movies based on books? For example, I loved The Notebook, the movie, but was really disappointed in the book. Conversely, although I really enjoy the Harry Potter movies, they cannot compare to the books. And finally, John Grisham's books seem to translate into movies pretty well, for example Pelican Brief, The Firm, The Client, and Runaway Jury.
I've kind of actually made a point of not seeing movies if I've read the book. My exceptions are the HP movies because... come on... dragons with pinkeye? Snape? You just *have* to see those movies.
Of course there have also been exceptions driven by classwork - Like Water for Chocolate being a notable exception. Laura Esquivel wrote the screenplay as well, and it's so true to the book. I find it's always to the movie's benefit when the book's author is directly involved in the film production.
Wow. This post did absolutely nothing to add to the conversation.
Do you read much Jane Austen? I've watched most of her books as films. They've done a tolerable good job, I think.
I would have to say that, while I enjoy watching it, the Little House on the Prairie series has very little in common with the books.
Also, have you read Joanne Harris? I watched Chocolat and really enjoyed it. Then found out that it is based on a novel, but I am a bit afraid to read it for fear I won't like it as well. I bought a book of her short stories to "test the waters" with first- if I ever get around to reading it. So much to read, so little time!
My husband claims I am obsessed with the multi-media experience. I cannot read a book without watching the movie, or vice versa, watch a movie based on a book without wanting to read the book. If there is a play AND a movie based on a book, even better.
I find it interesting to see how anothers visualization of the same words can be so different from mine. Then I like to imagine which version the author would have liked best. Usually my imagination wins, but not always.
Is this a sign that I am crazy?
Is this a sign that I am crazy?
Most assuredly so!
I think I am going to have to add SACD and Sherlock Holmes as a favorite. I am really enjoying reading these stories! I also heard there is a film "Sherlock Holmes" in the working. Do you think this one will show Holmes cocaine addiction?

Twilight saga (Stephenie Meyer)
Stephanie Plum series (Janet Evanovich)
She's Come Undone (Wally Lamb)
Clan of the Cave Bear Series (Jean Auel)
Temperance Brennen Series (Kathy Reichs)

But if I had to pick it would be

I forgot. I love Agatha Christie books!
Yes! I am no longer the only Twilight fan in the club!
